UK Private Bank of the Year 2008-09: Spear’s Wealth Management Awards

We beat fellow nominees C. Hoare & Co., JP Morgan, and Schroders to win the Spear’s Wealth Management Award for UK Private Bank of the Year 2008-09.

Why HSBC Private Bank won the award
We were praised for usingintelligence and creativity to come up with individual solutions, and were described as a private bank that "treats customers like kings".

At the ceremony, held in September 2009 at Christies, it was also said that one of our greatest successes has been: "…avoiding the jaws of the government when all around them were being nationalised."

What we say about the award
Paul Smith, UK Managing Director, was delighted that there was client input into the voting process, with one of the judges being a hedge fund manager and a client of the bank.
 
He says: "While 2009 is proving an extremely challenging year for us and all our competitors, it is clear that the quality of service we bring to our client base is a key differentiator in how we are perceived in the market place."
